Fiddling with straps and high backs

All snowboard bindings are designed to adjust so your boot and binding interface is the best fit it can be.  When you’ve got your new set up it worth spending a bit of time tweaking and fiddling before you head out on the hill for the first time.

Before you put your bindings on the board pop your boot into the binding, firstly we are going to look a heel  and toe overhang,  make sure the heel and toe are not hanging over the edge of the binding most bindings  will allow you to adjust the gas pedal (where the toe sits) some will also have heel  adjustment.

Straps

The key we are looking to achieve with the ankle strap is centred, with about an inch between the ratchet and the binding when the strap is fully cranked up. The centred angle strap with insure a responsive transfer of power to your board.   With the toe   strap you can wear them traditionally or capped, holding your toes and push the boot back in the heel cup.

Forward lean

Forward lean is the term we use when referring to the angle of the high back, if your into to power, carving, hiking  the pipe or freeriding, forward lean is for you the lean will give you a more responsive heel side edge and help you power through turns.  If you a park rat jibber it won’t be your thing, most park kids prefer less forward lean as it allows for tweak ability,  a forgiving ride with freedom.
