Skis and Boards need some love too..
With the snow on the hills and mountains beginning to melt. Most snow reports are mentioning soft spring conditions. It wouldn’t be long till the winter season draws to a close. So what do we do with our skis and boards when the season finishes??
Do we just chuck them in their bag put them in the garage or loft and hope they are fine?
You have to show your board and skis some love treat them right and they’ll treat you right.
1) Give your board or skis a good clean to get rid of the dust, dirt, pine needles etc… The best way to do this is with the garden hose and an old towel. Make sure you don’t force the water in to the bindings and don’t use degreasers as this will affect the binding lubricant.
2) Check edges; check edges for burrs, any rust spots the more you do now the less you will have to do come the start of the season. Remember the summer is a good time to put your kit in for a service as the techs are pretty quiet this time of year.
3) Wax on; wax the base with a good all temperature wax or a softer warm temperature wax. Be generous with the wax making sure the edges are covered to prevent oxidation and edge rusting.
4) Store them; not in the garage or in a barn. Find somewhere in the house, that is cool, dry and not is direct and sunlight. Also don’t store them under pressure, hanging by tips or strapped together.
