Product Reviews for SL Activ
Upon opening the box you can tell these are a quality pair of boots. After reading other reviews I took the time to break these in ready for the trip I bought then for. After I would say a good 40km these boots has bedded in & are no extremely comfortable offering fantastic support & grip. As for the sizing, I went a half size bigger which seems to of been the right decision for me. I have applied several lots of mink oil to these boots to maintain their waterproofing & overall condition. In all.very happy with my purchase.
This is my second pair of Scarpa SL Activ boots. The first pair is still giving good service after five years of use in England, Scotland, Switzerland and Nepal and one resoling by Foot First. The boots have been consistently comfortable and waterproof and have provided good grip in all the ground conditions which I have encountered - including snow and ice, with semi-flexible crampons. They are by a wide margin the best boots I have ever worn.
These boots have great ankle support on rough terrain and I didn't have to think twice stepping through boggy water. Can't see me having to replace them for a very long time.
Took a gamble on model and size with these boots not having the benefit of being able to try them on beforehand given the current lockdown. Deliberately chose LD Mountain Centre, due to how customer focussed they have been with me in the past, on the reasonable probability I would need to return or swap the product. No need whatsoever, boots fit like a charm and the comfort and build quality are exceptional. Scarpa are my go to for quality and comfort, you definitely get what you pay for.
Fantastic boot and brilliant service. The order was placed on Wednesday afternoon and I received them on Friday morning. Great service. The boots are very hard, strong, waterproof and should last a VERY long time. Exactly what you need when travelling off paths. On discount saved £35 on closest competitors prices, well done LD Mountain centre.
Only recently got these boots and they are perfect for me. The boot gives total ankle and foot support whilst also feeling lightweight. I have limited experience with these type of boots, however I can say that the Scarpa is the best boot I’ve worn to date by a mile. The boots are fantastic and I love walking in them, totally recommend this product
Amazing quality boots that do it all. I've worn them trekking 20miles a day on week long trips, I've worn them on techinical terrain in the mountains and I've paired them with crampons for winter ascents. They perform great everytime. Really durable, 100% waterproof and super comfortable. Amazing service from LD mountain centre aswell delivered fast and I was updated on arrival time perfectly.
I have recently switched to these boots from Scarpa Ribelle Lite and the difference in comfort and ankle support is incredible. I instantly feel better in these boots, even with the standard footbed. They are totally waterproof and the build quality is fantastic.
My husband bought these online after trying them on in the shop and he loves them. The fit is great despite his wide feet and it's the first pair of walking boots he's had that don't rub. They are suitable for hard wear (he is in the local mountain rescue team) and flexible for comfort on long walks. Good support given and will fit crampons.
Great, quick service and exactly the boot I wanted.
Finally a boot that does what it should .... no frills just very good...
I have been using Scarpa boots since the mid 90s, including various incarnations of the SL. The 2018 SL Active is the best so far. Lighter and more supportive than its predecessors, I find it is a particularly good fit for my narrower foot, and interestingly I am requiring a size smaller than the previous version (also compared to my Manta Pros), so I would recommend trying for size rather than assuming the same fit. Manufacturing quality is excellent as you would expect and the leather is protected by a full rand. The lacing system allows the right tension to be found and the hooks make for quick lacing. The Vibram sole is top quality as you would you would expect. At a list price of £260, this is not a cheap boot, but I find you get what you pay for. Being manufactured means the price has been impacted by the crask in the exchange rate due to Brexit - but given most boots are manufactured abroad this is an issue across the board. A great 3 season boot - in my view as a Munro, Corbett, Graham and Donald compleatist, it is the best on todays market.
