On my 3rd or 4th pair

I'm a massive Scarpa fan, I still wear my SLs from 1999. The best thing about Scarpa for me is the that they are the correct volume for my huge size 47s. Too much footwear is too roomy for me so I end up using volume adjusters. Scarpa is always a perfect fit for for me. These are now my 3rd or 4th pair of Crux shoes. I always look for alternatives, and really don't like paying so much for a shoe, BUT I cannot get away from the quality, durability and design of these shoes! The latest version has more padding inside for an even more comfortable shoe. They are the first pair of shoes that feel as though they hug the front top of the foot without being too tight or hot. The best fitting crux yet. The only reason I have ever replaced them is that the sole wears out around the heel after approx 3 years constant use. The uppers are still like new. Grip levels are amazing on all versions. In terms of use, theses days I wear them as an urban shoe for walking, scootering and driving. In the past used them as approach shoes at which they excell. Massively recommended. Sperb price and speed of despatch from LD Mountain Centre.

3rd Pair!

This is my 3rd pair of Scarpa Crux shoes. Having been walking and climbing for over 40 years these are the most comfortable shoe I have used. Good grip and good support all around. Assuming they keep making them I will no doubt buy a 4th pair! LD Mountain Centre price was excellent and the delvery was on time as promised.

Impressed on First Outing

I paired these with a new pair of Norfolk hiking socks and it was like putting on a pair of slippers. My first outing was a 7 mile woods/moorland walk. I could really feel the cushioning in the heal which put a spring in my step. There were a few wet/muddy areas but the grip never let me down. The only problem I had was stubbed toes on steep downhill sections even though the shoes were the correct fit. I think this was my fault as I’d just pulled them on and tied the laces. Pausing to pull the laces tight all the way up the shoe solved the problemx

My second pair

This is my second pair of Scarpa Crux shoes (our younger dog chewed my first pair, but they were due for replacement anyway thanks to many miles of use). They are very comfortable, the grip is fantastic and they look great too. LD Mountain Centre's price was good and their delivery was very fast. I'm very pleased with the shoes and with the store. A great product and brilliant service. Thanks.

Excellent comfort for all round use

Having focused on the Scarpa shoe range over the past few years trying to find a smart looking trail walking and urban shoe that supports and fits well the Crux is the best yet. I've the Scarpa Margarita and Highball shoes. Ones a sneeker design and the other trainer style. The Crux offers the best of both worlds with great sole comfort and all round foot support and is a good looking shoe. It's not waterproof but you can use sprays and it cleans up well with a damp brush. Grip is good but heel wear needs improvement or the grip layer been made thicker by a couple of mm. As designers change shoe designs too often and stop making the ones you really like I've purchased these as a second pair to replace my existing ones when they need replacing. As for LD for me they provided a first class service and the shoes were received within 24 hrs. We'll done!

Comfortable, but are they supportive enough?

I've worn these shoes now for a week or so on mixed terrain here in the Yorkshire Dales and particularly on the steep slopes around my village and which tend to reveal the characteristics of a shoe pretty quickly. Firstly, they are very comfortable straight out of the box and are a pleasure to have on the feet. It is very important to understand though that whilst these shoes are presented as a kind of halfway house between walking and light climbing/scrambling - what with the rubber toe box, climbing 'zone' section at the front of the sole and vaguely 80s rock boot aesthetic, they are definitely not stiff enough in the sole for anything but moderate angled activity. The almost one piece leather upper are supremely comfortable but not supportive compared with my previous Hagloffs and the wide fit may cause those with slimmer feet to roll about in them on slopes. So if you want a very comforatable pair of approach shoes with no other ambitions than walking or very light scrambling, these are perfect. If you want more supportive rigidity in both the uppers and the sole, because these do transmit the sharp stuff to some extent, or you need a waterproof membrane, then other options might be better. My climbing days are in the past now and apart from the occasional scramble, these fit my general needs perfectly, just don't be taken in by the slightly misleading pitch of the design if you are looking for full days in mixed terrain on the mountains. Great quality from Scarpa as always.

Lightweight and comfy

Received these quickly. Size was about right - which is often not the case with some manufacturers. Very lightweight and cushioned shoes. Gripped well on loose ground and damp leafy terrain on a trip to the south west. Good for general approach and low end scrambles.

Great approach shoes

These shoes really surprised me, bought on the off-chance but they've turned out to be some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. I have fairly wide feet and they fit perfectly. They work great as just a walking shoe/trainer, but also the grip on the sole is excellent and works great for scrambling and the like. Really happy with purchase.

Superb Walking Shoes

These are super comfortable, stable, well fitting, supportive and well built walking shoes - at least that's what I'm using them for (they are technically 'approach shoes') - they also look great!

Very Comfortable

I have painful feet and having worn both Merrells and Salomons with no relief, I bought the Scarpa Crux on recommendation from a SF friend, so I kind of bought blind. To say I am not disappointed is an understatement, (much to the relief of Mrs T) the shoes fit like a glove, without my feet feeling restricted, they fit perfectly around the ankle without any slipping when walking, okay, I have not been scrambling up any peaks yet, but having tested them on a steep concrete incline they grip well. Temperature at the moment is about 25c, feet feel fairly warm, but comfortable, having worn them all day, and my feet don't ache at the end of the day, big smile. The foot plant is stable on a flat floor, not much chance of feet rolling over. I would recommend these shoes to anyone. Oh and the service and delivery from LD is exceptional, shoes arrived in a couple of days, well done guys.
