A Sneaky Seven (The South Glen Shiel Ridge)

There aren’t many areas in Scotland where you can pick up seven Munros and a great lightweight camp on a high ridge in 24 hours but last week John and a couple of friends managed to find the weather and the motivation to give it a go.

Parking at the free car park opposite the Cluanie Hotel, a good place for a post walk pint and food, the lads headed up onto the east end of the ridge and knocked off the first two Munros before camping on the bealach just before number 3 Aonach air Chrith.

With water easy to find on the south side of the bealach and little or no wind this turned out to be the near perfect high level campsite and top marks went to John’s MSR Hubba

With bacon butties under their belts the lads polished off the remaining 5 Munros with some atmospheric cloud which came and went during the day and headed back to the road in Glen Shiel.

The Glen Shiel road is one place where people will generally pick up walkers heading back to their cars and car number three picked up Paul who retrieved their car from the Cluanie Inn.
