Good news for Skiers as temperatures drop in Europe

Hurray for cold weather! As reported by Ski Club Great Britain, it looks like many ski resorts across Europe will be planning to open from this weekend. This does of course depend on snowfall but now that temperatures have dropped many resorts will be able to make their own snow this week. If resorts are able to make their own snow then this will provide a good base for any fresh snow falling before the weekend.

There are of course many higher resorts that already have some great conditions so if you’re looking to get away on a last minute trip before Christmas we recommend you check out the following resorts to be sure of the best skiing and a good choice of lifts.

France:

Val d’Isere, Les Duex Alpes or Tignes

Switzerland:

Zermatt, Samnaun-Ischgl, Flims Laax, Davos-Klosters

Austria:

Obergurgl

Italy:

Cervinia, Livigno, Gressoney-la-Trinite

The Cairngorms on a perfect day

Closer to home and Scotland has seen some snowfall already this week with more forecast over the next few days. According to the latest BBC forecast Aviemore is set for wintry showers today and tomorrow along with severe gales. Fortunately the gales look likely to die away in time for the weekend which is when Cairn Gorm Mountain plans to open having already begun snowmaking. If you are thinking of heading to the Cairngorms for a bit of fun in the white stuff, we suggest you stay tuned to the official website for prospects of snowsports this weekend. With any luck you might get similar conditions to the picture above!
