Product Reviews for Mens Makalu Jacket

I thought I'd found just what I'd been looking for. Durable, 3L goretex, front phone pocket, good colour and collar not too high. Decent hood but not uncomfortable when down. BUT ..... the sleeves are SO long; and even using the wrist straps, it still looked daft and felt uncomfortable. I contacted Mountain Equipment and they said it's to suit alpine climbers who need long sleeves. Go figure ? Frustratingly, I had to send it back

I have bought Mountain Equipment products from sleeping bags to Waterproof jackets for many years and believe you can't go wrong with the quality, performance and price. I previously had a Mountain Equipment Garwhal jacket which did the job for everything from walking the dogs, cycle touring in some horrendous weather and mountain walking... but sadly the main zip died after years of sustained use and it's around £85 to get it replaced so I upgraded to the Makalu. The Garwhal had a very different feel to this jacket, it feels thicker, heavier and stiffer but I think it's the pit zips making the difference and that with a bit more wear it will be perfect. That's not to say i'm not happy with it and it definitely does its job. I've only had it since the 27th December but I've worn it daily including a mountain walk, in really wet conditions, and it was great.

Great waterproof jacket from Mountain Equipment, really well made with good features. Bonus was getting it a really competitive price from LD Mountain Centre.

been search for a waterproof jacket for a while this once ticked all the boxes for performance vs price, lots of pockets and air vents, fit is excellent along with the hood design, yet to try it out in extreme weather

Great colour and price. Excellent quality.
