Zamberlan Trail Lite GTX Features:
The Zamberlan Trail Lite GTX is a leather, Gore-Tex lined walking boot designed for light hiking. The Gore-Tex lining makes the Trail Lite is 100% waterproof whilst the Hydrobloc treated leather upper stops water sinking into the outer fabric. Zamberlan have put their FWS and ZAS techniques and technology to provide an improved fit, comfort and control. Offering support whilst still allowing the foot to flex for a comfortable walking action, the Zamberlan Trail Lite is a favourite for Fell walking and light hiking.
I have just bought my third pair of Trail Lites because these are, for me, pretty well the perfect walking boots. But first a word about sizing. Zamberlan make their boots on a narrow last and a number of walkers have noted that they need a larger size than usual. Me too. I usually take a size 9 (European 43) and normally this is plenty big enough; indeed, since I have narrow feet I sometimes find that size a bit too capacious. Not with Zamberlans, though: way back I had to exchange my original purchase for a size larger, Euro 44, and then the fit was perfect - snug enough to keep the foot well supported but roomy enough for comfort.
I walk more than 3,000 miles annually and have tried and worn-out many boots and shoes oven the years. I can confidently say that I have never owned a better pair of boots than these Zamberlans. The upper is best quality leather and is all one piece, so there are no seams around the toe where leaking could occur. The sole is a thick, grippy Vibram, but with a bit of give to them to allow for easier flexing. Ankle support is good but, here too, there is a little some compromise and the boots are consequently very comfortable to use. With the Gore-Tex lining the boots are, as you’d expect, completely waterproof, even in the harshest conditions.
To repeat, then, these Zamberlans are pretty much the perfect boots. It is impossible to over praise them.
I've had a pair of Zamberlan boots that lasted me 20 years. So this product was the choice for me.
One thing to note, I used 2 pairs of socks with my 20 year old Zamberlans, the modern ones only require 1 pair of socks for the same size.
They are very comfortable and do the job well. Being made from one piece of leather joined at the heel means less seems to let in water, and also a very good leather tongue helps to keep your feet perfectly dry. Spend the money and get a good pair of boots
