Osprey Tempest 30 Features:
The Tempest is the women’s specific version of one of Osprey's iconic backpacks. The Tempest 30 is a mountain professional. The AirScape™ back panel and die-cut foam hipbelt and harness keeps your load under close control but allows ventilation to run free. The shoulder harness is length adjustable, to fit you just right. The zipped pockets on each side of the hipbelt allow quick and easy access to smaller items like phone, powerbar, GPS etc. The dual buckle lid closure with integrated top compressor beneath means unrivalled top load compression and the side compressors are designed to run either under or over the stretch powermesh side pockets. On top of the lid you will find another conveniently placed pocket, ideal for gloves, hat, map etc. On the front of the Osprey Tempest 30 you also have a large powermesh pocket, which is ideal for a wet jacket or extra layer of clothing.
I bought this backpack to walk the Speyside Way which is a 125km walk that I did over 5 days.
The bag its self is so light that you hardly need to factor it into your weight allowance and the back panel meant that it was really comfortable to wear. My back was well ventilated and there was no friction from the shoulder, waist or sternum straps. The pockets on the waist strap are great for keeping quick access items in i.e. camera, snacks which meant I didn’t need to stop on the go to look for things in my pack.
I was a dubious about the need for the top lid access to be adjustable on all side but this is a great feature as you maximise the storage space of the pack. I also really liked the stretchy mesh pocket on the front of the pack for keep quick access things in without bulking out the main storage compartment.
I really can’t fault this pack, it was comfortable from the 1st wear and all the little pockets and extra features like pole holders means you can be hands free and pack in a lot more than you would expect.
Great Design, Great Buy!
I bought this for taking on the Tour du Mont Blanc this summer. Having looked at many packs in many shops, I felt this was the best - and wasn't wrong! It is lightweight, the fit is excellent, helped by the adjustable back, and it was never uncomfortable for a second. We were travelling as light as possible and it was just the right size for my clothes and gear. Its many pockets were perfect for all the bits and pieces you want to keep handy, and it has lots of extra handy features like the loops for holding your walking poles. The only drawback was no waterproof cover, which my husband's slightly different model had, but it wasn't enough to put me off buying it. I can't recommend it highly enough.
