The Meindl family have been making high quality walking boots and shoes for over 300 years and the name Meindl is now a name that walkers, hikers and mountaineers associate with quality, performance and comfort. Today Meindl footwear is still a family ran business that is now in its 11th generation and is now run by brothers Lucas and Lars Meindl. Meindl walking boots are always handmade in their factory in Kirchanschöring in Germany where it all started 300 years ago, using high quality leather that can be traced back to the farm in Bavaria where it came from . Tradition and innovation are very important to the Meindl family with their walking boots leading the way for walkers and hikers for many years. Meindl also made one of the world’s first Gore-Tex walking boots over 25 years ago. Interestingly Meindl have the first boot to travel faster than the speed of sound, 767 mph. Felix Baumgartner used a pair of Meindl boots in his “Jump from Space”. He jumped from a space capsule which was at a height of 39045 meters.
